Re: Thai amulets with gemstones?
I was wondering if those rubies are real on some thai amulets? Why use real gem stones?

I too saw some greenish and redish stones that looks like gems on my somdej amulet. Anyone thinks they are real?

Re: Thai amulets with gemstones?
I have been collecting amulets for more than a 2 decades, I would say that most of them are not real gems. Probably those of 20-40 years ago made by old adept monks are real, monks of that era would take the effort in finding and using real gemstones in the making of their amulets. Because real gems can really store their power. Experience of those with real gems are also different.

Re: Thai amulets with gemstones?
I am a collector of amulets and gem stones. Most of those gems are nothing more than glass. But I still do trust there are good energies in them through prayers and consecration. I have a few phra somdej and khun paen from northern Thailand which has real gemstones in them. Yes, the “feel” of it is different. Seems to have strong vibrations of energies in them. Those were my dad’s real old collection, could be about more than 20 years old. I think back in the 70’s-80’s, spiritually attained monks knows the secret of how gem stone can store memories and energies. Like what science is talking about today. There are also some older amulets from wat rakang (phra somdej), and lp tim khun paen that has real gems in them. Another ajarn who makes amulets with real gem stones is aj patana. In my pespective, I prefer amulets with real gem stones. This also reflects on the wisdome of the guru who makes it, understanding and knowing the importance of using real gems rather than just plastics or glass. (That’s only my personal views and perspective.)

I have a wat rakang somdej, but I don’t see any gemstones on it. Where can I find those with gemstones?

Re: Thai amulets with gemstones?
I agree that most of the ‘newer’ amulets no longer use real gemstones in the making. Maybe they are too expensive to use in amulets? I do have statues and amulets from master ajarn patana too, I do see some edges of stones under the statue and on the takrut (takroot?) I was told by a friend who sells gem stones that they are real rubies, blue sapphires, and even fragments of real diamonds. I wasn’t told when I bought it, but was surprise to find out later that the materials used were so precious.

I agree on the fact that by looking at the materials used in amulets making can more or less tell how knowledgeble a master is. Science has started proving how energies works and can be contained in some natural elements of the earth and proof of spiritual existence by science are also surfacing.

I believe that any amulets are good as long as they are made with good intentions.

Antique amulets with real gem stones are real deal in my opinion. I only find and keep amulets that use real gem stones.

Re: Thai amulets with gemstones?
I see that many amulets today made by monks and ajarns are using plastic and glass to beautify it. Does that mean they are useless? No energies?
